There are a number of successful UK property portal websites (eg Asserta Home, Home Sale Network, Property Platform, Right Move). For maximum portfolio exposure, it is worthwhile adding your properties to some of these sites in addition to your own. Portal sites can be of great value to estate agents, largely because you can benefit from their extensive advertising budgets, which make them well known and attract large numbers of visitors to their sites, in turn generating a good enquiry rate. Fees for portals vary, but the principle is that your properties are held in a large "communal" database and displayed on the portal website together with those of other estate agents.

If you want to use more than one portal website (and it is a good idea to be represented on as many as possible), you are likely to find yourself spending increasing amounts of time maintaining your online portfolio on each of the various sites. It can be annoying for both you and potential clients to have telephone conversations about properties which were sold or let last week!
